The people released so far were civilians and reported other civilians and family members bought* there. One is a journalist, not released yet, no idea where he is. They are in undisclosed locations and their families don’t even know. No weapons were found or ceased. The IDF itself says they took them purely for being Palestinian men in the north. They pulled them directly from a refugee camp where families were sheltering. The women there were threatened at gunpoint. They didn’t “surrender”.
Edit: typo.
That’s honestly sad. I understand the need to check whether they don’t have weapons but tying them like this is too much. And then even the recording screams, “see how we dehumanize them.”
I mean, it literally violates the Geneva convention on POWs, even if they are Hamas it’s literally immoral either way
I expect Hamas does the same but also you should never drop to Hamas’s level.
fundamentally “but X does it too” is a whataboutism, Germany did the holocaust, does that mean we should have put the Germans in camps?
Exactly, hence why answer is formulated in a way that we should not drop to others’ level and do something bad because others are doing something bar, as well.
well since the Israeli government was doing it first, you could argue that Hamas is the one stooping down to their level, since the occupation and mistreatment of Palestinians in Gaza predates Hamas
As much as Hamas sucks, no, only Israel has a proven track record of stripping men and women and others detained with no charge whatsoever and leaving them or humiliating them in prison.
