This is why I’ve got a charger + cable in every bag.
Every.
Bag.
Yeah, plus I don’t move my home charger. Home charger, chargers in bag, charger in car, charger at work. Like, they’re stupid cheap…
Well, you don’t want to get the cheap cheap ones, but even the quality converters are pretty affordable these days.
Yeah I have an apple and android charger in the living room and bedroom. Those might as well be part of the outlet.
I have one backpack I use for everything. I usually keep a 65W USB A+C charger and a 45W Powerbank with a small assortment of cables in there.
Now of course I have multiple USB-PD chargers and powerbanks, however all of those mysteriously disappear when I need them, making it necessary to use the backpack ones at home and being the clumsy dork I am, I always forget them there reducing the backpack charger count to zero. And guess when I come into a situation where I desperately need to recharge \ on the go?
What you do is keep getting wallwarts and batteries until you reach critical mass and you can’t not find one.
Yep. This is how I roll. I always take a specific bag on trips. That bag has a specific pocket that has 2 spare cords (short and long), 1-2 spare wall chargers and a power bank. All my cars have cigarette lighters with power-delivery chargers and a cable that never leaves.
The only time my phone dies is when I’m out all day, using my phone way more than I’d thought and I’m with people who still use old iPhones so their whole life revolves around lightning still.
You don’t have a battery backup?
Also, LOL at “old iPhones.” The 15 literally just came out, you expect everyone to buy the new one already? Also, you don’t have a USB-C cable?
Do people just yolo out the door to their vacation?
My charger, like everything else, is on my travel checklist.
It’s probably a matter of needing the charger until the last second. Then you’re shortly distracted for whatever reason, take your phone to another room and your fate is sealed.
Though I’ve never left my charger at home, either.
You don’t mark it off the checklist until it’s in the bag, and you check the list before you leave the house.
My travel checklist is usually run through the night before. The charger and toothbrush are getting used right up until the last minute. But I also have no issues with replacing those things at my destination if needed.
As someone who travels a lot for a living, I have two chargers in my travel pack. Always. When I come home it stays there until I’m out and about again.
Other things that always stay in my carry-on kit:
- Phone stand
- Two pairs of socks
- A t-shirt
- A network cable
- A bunch of USB sticks
- 20000mAh battery bank
- plastic fork (for eating cup noodles. I used to carry a metal one, but airport security somewhere didn’t like it)
- 13mm spanner
20000mAh battery bank
Just 1? I pack 3 of these things.
Between a Steam deck, headphones and phone with some videos I needs the juice!
It’s enough to keep my phone and my bluetooth earbuds charged for two to three days, which is usually enough for me to arrive at my destination. Especially nowadays when you can charge stuff onboard airplanes.
Hmm… does that happen to be my 13mm?
…you only have one charger? There’s like 6 spread across the house and another 4 packed away in the travel bags.
They all hide when it’s time to go on a trip.
You only have 6? I have 6 in the living room, and at least another 18 spread around the house.
My issue is mistakenly packing a slow charger instead of a fast charger.
Yeah, I have a travel backpack that I keep a charger and spare charger in because so many of my devices run off USB-C. The nice thing is, that includes my phone, and one of the chargers is for the Steam Deck, so I can get a turbocharge pretty much anywhere.
It’s really too bad chargers aren’t sold anywhere. Tiny bodegas, gas stations, grocery stores, clothing stores, office stores, your mom, pretty much any store that’s open right now…
Edit on a serious note: Actually, now that I think of it, it’s a little ridiculous how they’re literally everywhere. I’ve even seen them in a restaurant before. That’s one hell of a huge pile of plastic.
Make a list a week ahead of time.
Check that list 4 days before to make sure you don’t need anymore stuff.
Pack stuff up except what you need the day before.
Check the list.
Pack the last things you need.
Check list.
Walk out the door with your packed bags.
USB-C FTW
still manage to leave without one sometimes though…
Cannot recommend enough having a preconfigured to do list for trip packing that you can quickly make a duplicate of in Google Keep or Apple Notes or wherever you prefer.
Might not always be 100% comprehensive but surely guarantees I have all necessary things such as chargers, documents, and clothing.
As someone who has been living abroad from their home country for over 8 years, it has proved indispensable.
I travel a bunch for work so I have an extra charger always in my bag ready to go
I have a backpack charging set, it’s always in my backpack. It’s a 100 watt quad port charger (2 usb c, 2 usb a) with all the cables I need attached. It brings a lot of peace of mind.
I bought an Anker 737 that can charge my laptop and my cellphone at the same time after I forgot both chargers during a trip
My fiancee tends to bring like four bags for an overnight trip, and still manages to forget the charging cord.
In fairness her dietary allergies are severe and she needs to bring her own food everywhere, but still, she’s the worst over packer I’ve ever known.
My boyfriend’s girlfriend (not me) is like that. She’s also got major dietary restrictions and always ends up bringing 3x more food than she needs. Food anxiety sucks. I’m thankful I have no firm dietary restrictions, just things that don’t agree with me.
