Many observers fear the ruling Georgian Dream party will resort to anything to stay in power. It has buried the liberal values it espoused when it took office 12 years ago and effectively torpedoedGeorgia’s bid to join the European Union. Its founder, the secretive oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili, has threatened to imprison his political rivals after the election and ban the main opposition party.

Under the country’s new proportional voting system, Khabeishvili of the UNM says Georgia’s fragmented opposition will have no trouble forming a coalition after the election. But he fears that Ivanishvili will seek to cling to power after an election loss.

As Georgia votes, fears of a stolen election and a return to the Kremlin’s orbit loom large

Same here in the other Georgia, TBH.

Either people revolt or you end like belarus…

Russians are spineless unlike some of their neighbors.

Too limp dick to revolt agianst their regime, but brave enough to go fight in ukraine.

If russia is able to pull this offin Georgia while tied down in Ukraine. There aint much hope left

More demonic US empire BS, as they tried in Venezuela this year, and successfully did in Ukraine since 2014.

He claims Georgia is being controlled by a foreign “pseudo-elite” and that the opposition belongs to a “Global War Party” bent on dragging the country into conflict with Russia.

He is dead right, and no one in Georgia should want to become the next Ukraine. The sooner you realize that “democracy” only counts if it enslaves you to US empire, the sooner you can hope to be free.

Please tell us what should replace democracy.

Feudalism? Dictatorship? I’m trying to imagine a society where people never get a say in how things are run being a good place to live and I can’t.

UBI/freedom dividends is real freedom for people, that disempowers state’s discretionary power. You stop either making the leaders responsible or seeking a new hero to save economy/society. With poverty eliminated, “heroes” that promise to cure it can be discarded. A zionist/warmongering/demonic empire with media cartel devoted to it loses its power to corrupt democracy by telling you which demonic alternative to vote for. An empire’s theft is directly cash taken away from everyone’s pocket equally, and so is a very hard sale. There is still opportunity for government programs that enhance society/economy but society should get a good return for those investments.

Democracy is good in theory. CIA/media distortion of it means it is worthless in practice. At least a monarchy, even if it makes the rulers as rich as our democratic systems, has national sustainability without outside corruption as an inherently valued goal to pass on to monarch’s heirs. Israel first rule in US, and CIA first rule every where else completely corrupts any theoretical value of democracy, and in fact makes corruption dead simple.

UBI has nothing to do with who runs things. Someone has to distribute those funds. Someone also has to be responsible for things like infrastructure and ensuring things like food is being inspected.

So how do the people doing those things get chosen fairly if not by citizens voting for them?

UBI/freedom dividends is not discretionary. Sure the IRS has to apply rules to determine refund amounts, but they don’t get calls from politicians telling the to target someone with harassment.

Someone also has to be responsible for things like infrastructure and ensuring things like food is being inspected.

That is absolutely a useful government function that sane people would vote to keep. It’s the CIA/warmongering apparatus that Israel needs to control. The dog catchers don’t need a force for corruption behind their appointment.

So how do the people doing those things get chosen fairly if not by citizens voting for them?

Currently, you only vote for the most Israel loyal candidate you are told to, who then appoints those roles. The advantages of theoretical democracy can occur only after the systemic corruption forces are exterminated. Step 1 is being angry at how corrupt and evil governance is structured, instead of pretending its not.

That’s not an answer. I didn’t ask about how it is currently.

Again, how do those people get chosen fairly if not by citizens voting for them?

A king can appoint regulators. Even if he is greedy and enriched from country ownership, he doesn’t need to compromise people’s safety through bribes from oligarchy. Democracy for the oligarchy by the oligarchy is the problem. There’s only one way to fix it.

Are you seriously arguing in favor of a monarchy?

Who’s going to be king? You?
