Funny how both replies to you actually DID offer something to the conversation, providing information for clarification to yourself and others, but your reply to BOTH of them was to be a whiny little bitch making up argumentative points out of the blue to make you feel self-important. Maybe you should just calm down, take the information that was provided, and move on with your day.

Or is this the point where you call me “pedantic” as well, because you sure seem to like using that word to describe everyone but yourself.

pedantic has a literal definition, chucklefuck.

Pedant: a person who is excessively concerned with minor details and rules or with displaying academic learning.

Or am I wrong that the original person I was responding to was not being pedantic about Linux vs. GNU/Linux? It’s like the literal definition of pedantry. Also, I only ever accused the person quibbling about that as pedantic. The other guy I merely had to assume has no social skills, if they don’t understand how annoying pedantry is.

Sorry I know how to use words.

Why yes, it DOES have a definition. Funny how ALL words are like that.

The first person told you the correct terms to use for what you were talking about, because saying “vanilla linux” doesn’t mean anything to anyone. Are you talking about a base install of one specific linux distribution? Are you talking about building your own linux-from-scratch? Are you talking about a clean install of Android on your cell phone? That’s already three completely different examples off the top of my head and I’m sure there are many other possibilities that your phrase may have meant to other people.

And of course the second person pointed out that there’s a real linux distribution called “VanillaOS”, but apparently you think that was also pedantic even though it is factual information and further shows how confusing your terminology was.

Just face it, you’re being an ass for no apparent reason.
