vivendi@programming.devto Programming@programming.dev•Migrating away from Rust [gamedev]English13·12 days agoif nothing else it should be easier with rust because:
a) That fucking syntax is probably more legible to an AI than a human (sue me, Rust absolutists)
b) The language has more safety barriers; making use of AI safer by association
vivendi@programming.devto Programming@programming.dev•Migrating away from Rust [gamedev]English97·12 days agoThis is luddite behavior. AI can be a very valuable tool for learning unless you’re working with some truly exotic shit (in which case pray to RAG to save you)
vivendi@programming.devto Programming@programming.dev•Migrating away from Rust [gamedev]English2·12 days agoYO; extremely rare D mention
I discovered digitalmars back in the very early days; it’s been on my watchlist for over 15+ years now
vivendi@programming.devto Programming@programming.dev•Devs sound alarm after Microsoft subtracts C/C++ extension from VS Code forksEnglish4·15 days agobetween lapse and zed I also decided on Lapse because it feels much more community-oriented than Zed; maybe you should look into that
vivendi@programming.devto Programming@programming.dev•Devs sound alarm after Microsoft subtracts C/C++ extension from VS Code forksEnglish3·15 days agoTechnically this shit isn’t even free (libre); atleast with corpo projects we can always fork them
vivendi@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•Trying to avoid antitrust suits, Google senior executives told employees to destroy internal messagesEnglish5·15 days agoI know people like to hate on google, but google is actually like 3 companies in a trench coat.
They do highly valuable open source / open ecosystem work (I will say the chance of you indirectly using a google tool without knowing is over 90% now) and if the American government, a capitalist fascist government no less, gets their hands on it, we’re fucked
Not all of google is adsense or YouTube.
vivendi@programming.devto Linux@programming.dev•Fedora 42 installer defaults to btrfs? What's everyone's opinion or experience on that?English3·15 days agoAnother great thing about BTRFS is that it can detect hardware problems sooner: if your BTRFS drive keeps losing data to corruption; that’s because it has detected a corruption that other FS’s would silently work with
vivendi@programming.devto Linux@programming.dev•Fedora 42 installer defaults to btrfs? What's everyone's opinion or experience on that?English5·15 days agoBTRFS FUCKS; HARD
I realized that talking to a piece of shit like you is wasting my own time
There is hardly anything in your favor here, scum
vivendi@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI wants to buy Chrome and make it an “AI-first” experienceEnglish11·17 days agoI’ve seen this stupidity all over lemmy. It’s like, people “group psychology” -ed this thought into the central culture of lemmy and refuse to budge.
It also doesn’t help that capitalists are using AI to take people’s jobs and also a misunderstanding of how image diffusion works had lead to the artistic line of people to also hate AI
Nobody likes to fucking listen. People like to be smug.
vivendi@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI wants to buy Chrome and make it an “AI-first” experienceEnglish74·18 days agoOh fucking -please-
This place is genuinely more insufferable than Reddit. That is actually an achievement
Whatever dude, writhe in your own ignorance
vivendi@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI wants to buy Chrome and make it an “AI-first” experienceEnglish15·18 days agoMozilla works mainly on LOCAL AI not this corporate trash like closedAI
vivendi@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI wants to buy Chrome and make it an “AI-first” experienceEnglish715·18 days agoI don’t fucking understand why Lemmy is permanently stuck in 2023 with AI
Using RAG (retrieval augmented generation) results in much lower, almost negligible confabulation rates

I am just a poor fucking Iranian with shitass internet and no money to buy a NAS but I’ll try to hawk some part of it as much as I can

I recommend something like an older Mistral model (FOSS model) for beginners, then move on to Mistral Small 24B, QwQ 32B and the likes
vivendi@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•Advanced OpenAI models hallucinate more than older versions, internal report findsEnglish1·19 days agoFirst, please answer, do you want everything FOSS or are you OK with a little bit of proprietary code because we can do both
vivendi@programming.devto Technology@lemmy.world•Advanced OpenAI models hallucinate more than older versions, internal report findsEnglish101·20 days agoFuck ClosedAI
I want everyone here to download an inference engine (use llama.cpp) and get on open source and open data AI RIGHT NOW!
?!!? Before genAI it was hired human manipulators. Ypur argument doesn’t exist. We cannot call edison a witch and go back in caves because new tech creates new threat landscapes.
Humanity adapts to survive and survives to adapt. We’ll figure some shit out
