I use TinyBit launcher, i think it can do it but i never needed to because junk app quickly go so far in list you just don’t see them.

I have some questions: What read/write speeds? Is it even writeable in a reasonable way? (CD/DVD burners blast your disk with a laser and “cook” darker patches that are your data) How long does it live on this disk?

Same! I would also cram a small server and ton of tools into it so i would have a portable hackerspace.

MuPDF is good for books and comics, KOReader is better but it takes time to learn it. I would get a big SD card, download movies/books/stuff on pc and just transfer them using SMB/(S)FTP/USB.
I mean efficient clients that are both easy for non-techy ppl and their 4GB of RAM.
