As for migration, you might be able to create a degraded pool initially, copy over the data, and add the parity disk last.
I actually asked in the TrueNAS forum about this idea. According to some knowledgeable users this might work. For anyone interested, details here. The next major release (planned for end of October), should make this easier.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think entities that deliberately spread and use malware should be punished and held accountable. Too bad these entities help write the laws.
AMD recently launched their 9000 series CPUs. Most reviews showed lackluster performance. Except for Linux. Turns out it was a Windows problem that will be fixed with the next release. Initial tests show big gains depending on the game.
Microsoft is selling Windows as the gaming platform. It’s just marketing. And it’s crumbling just a little bit. I hope this will at least lead to parity with Linux.
Ugh. I kind of wish you would just go gracefully into the background Peter.
He passed gracefully 2 or 3 “games” ago. The quotation marks, because they were basically abandoned for a new gimmick, without delivering.
I’ve been using Plasma 6 and Wayland since Plasma 6 was stable. IMO, you shouldn’t have any issues using Wayland in todays landscape.
It has gotten a LOT better, but there are still niche cases.
I have a TV hooked up via HDMI and can only output 4K30Hz on Wayland and my system starts chugging. With X11 I can do 60Hz no problem.
I will need to take a hard look if I will go for Nvidia or AMD when I build a new system in a few weeks/months.
A new PC upgrade is on my list after building a NAS and I have almost the same parts on my list, just as regular ATX. Maybe look for a good deal on a WD Black SN850X as a small upgrade over the Crucial NVME.
I will be going for the same cooler as well, since I don’t see the value in an AIO solution for non high-end CPU. The downsides outweigh the superior cooling at that wattage IMO.
It’s not easy to find info like the sound of the switch/button with gaming mice.
Maybe the Razer Pro Click, Razer’e answer to the MX Master mice, could work for you.
Not participating in a disinformation war reminds me of the hesitation to allow Ukraine to strike Russian territory with the supplied weapons. What incentive does thr other side have to stop?
I recently upgraded my XBox 360 Wireless controller and got the Flydigi Vader 3 Pro. Hall Effect Sensors trigger guard. Picked it up for und er 50 bucks on Aliexpress. They are available on Amazon US, but not in Europe.
Really happy with it so far.
Witcher 3 was great even though the pacing almost lost me. I’m the kind of player who plays one main story mission and then has to complete all available side quests, before continuing the main quest. It’s the reason the only Bethesda Game I have ever finished is Oblivion.
That’s why I recommend people to stick with it and finish some main quests if you ever feel like the game loses yo.
A little PSA: buying a game just before a sale, is a legitimate reason for a refund according to their Refund FAQ
I have never played a From Software game. Sekiro is really tempting to get, because I never could see myself dodging/rolling around the big enemies and bosses. Mostly human-sized enemies and parrying sounds much more appealing to me. But the difficulty has scared me off thus far and it never went below 50% off
Repeat after me “Fines need to be tied to global revenue”. It has to hurt, if you want companies to stop.
I think it’s hilarious that western leaders are worried about provoking Russia by providing Ukraine with weaponry that can be used in Russian territory.
Russia is at war with us. It’s not tanks, fighter jets and battleships. It’s cyber warfare, disinfomation campaigns, bribing of right wing politicians and poisonings. Just because nobody wants to call it a war, doesn’t make it go away.
You could check out c/datahoarder. They should be able to tell you about brands, reliability, best practices …
Discovery has always been a mixed bag for me.
I was fine with their changes to the Klingons, but disliked the emphasis of action.
I liked Pike and Spock (an Strange new Worlds), bit disliked the final battle with a million ships/drones.
I liked the jump into the future, but disliked the reason and resolution of the Burn.
I liked the threat of the DMA and its consequences, but the interpersonal relationships of the crew lost their appeal to me.
Season 5 was one of the weakest for me.
The Breen and the new XO two positives for me.
The crew, the Progenitor Tech and the search for it were all boring for me. Especially the established characters are more annoying than interesting to me.
Mol and L’ak ruined the season for me, more specifically Mol. A cross between a tantrum-having toddler and rebellious teenager, she added nothing to the plot. Her random connection to Book was blatantly manufactured and added nothing.
I actively had to stop myself from skipping scenes with her. I was close to just stop watching this season, since the rest wasn’t too compelling either. I really dislike when antagonist keep sticking around, because the heroes try saving them (from themselves). It’s okay to let a horrible person bleed to death, Michael.
I’m glad it’s over. It could have been better, but also worse. I think this season showed it was a good decision to end it now.
Roblox not runnimg is more like a feature. /s
Congress should have a theme for this. “Warcrime Wednesdays”?
Thanks for saying this.
With recent campaigns and rants against digital media, people often claim that “you own the game if you buy a physical copy”. That always makes me sigh, because it’s false.
Not saying there are some advantages for some use cases, but I dislike hyperbole and untruths.
