Gaming@beehaw.org•Microsoft support for Windows 10 officially ends today, but a third of Steam players still use it | VGC
6·1 month agoI’ve got Mint as my main OS for everything except Windows, which I use solely for gaming. Would you say it’s worth just replacing windows with Bazzite? I pirate some games and only a portion of my games are on Steam, so I always thought it might not be the best idea to leave windows behind altogether. Also I’m basically a novice with command lines and such (hence why I’m using Mint)

Map Enthusiasts@sopuli.xyz•Share of the European population living in their own homes
5·1 month agoWell the UK data is from 7 years ago. But still, did 65% really own their own home? I’m wondering if it’s the percentage who aren’t living in a rented property, rather than owning their own home? As the majority of people in their 20s and 30s are either renting or technically homeless and living with family or friends. And even then, many of those in the latter situation will be in a rented property. Maybe I just have a wildly skewed idea of home ownership here, I dunno

12·2 months agoYeah even putting this situation aside I wasn’t that gassed for GOY. I played GOT and enjoyed it sure, but it was yet another typical open world action-adventure game with no innovation at all really, basically the same gameplay we’ve seen countless times at this point. It just had a halfway decent story, which is a low bar for video games, and looked really pretty. And what you say is very true I agree, “by weebs, for weebs”
Edit: oh my god I knew there were apparently new gameplay elements in GOY. I hadn’t looked it up but suspected it would again be nothing new. And yeah most of it is but I did see they have something…unique. The “Watanabe mode” where it plays lofi beats music over you playing. So cringe

251·2 months agoI just looked it up now seeing as I hadn’t heard of this either
From what I can gather one of the senior members of the development team, Drew Harrison, made a (mild) joke in a tweet about the suspected shooter in Charlie Kirk’s death. Loads of right wingers, being the thin skinned, wannabe victims but apparently “free speech warriors” that they are, harassed her and contacted Sucker Punch trying to get her fired, threatening to boycott the game and so on. Sucker Punch and/or Sony predictably caved and did so
If I’m missing anything, please feel free to add to this. As I say I’m only just hearing about it and haven’t gone on a deep dive about it

2·2 months agoNo worries! I can totally see how it could be easily misread as “I’ve” and that would have made what I said really not good. I just saw people were downvoting me too so I thought it was multiple people thinking I wasn’t joking

Very true. It’s also a very French thing too though, to be fair
And the size of your land in acres/hectares. And a lot of ingredients in cups (which has never been a set amount in the UK since its beginning). And distance sometimes in yards

Oh yeah great suggestion actually, I’m sure the locals would receive him in the best way he deserves
He should just be exiled to some random, remote uninhabited island. Then he’ll never have to deal with another foreigner again and we wouldn’t have to deal with him

Complaining about big things that actually matter is banned. But the usual banal complaining we do all the time about arbitrary things that anyone in a non affluent country could only dream of having as all their “problems”…they could never take that from us. Might actually be the only thing that would spark a revolution in this country, thinking about it
