Can you imagine the alternate headline of “US sends peace keeping force to Saudi Arabia to protect African migrants”? That’s a sociopolitical minefield if there ever was one. I’m sure that if the US knew, so did most everyone else, and there weren’t any other countries lining up to help. SA isn’t known for being a clandestine government, more of a “What are you gonna do about it, buy more oil?” kind of operation. The US is damned if we do, damned if we don’t. Step in and its Team America World Police, don’t do anything and we are standing by letting genocidal governments kill nations.

Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, FFVI and Xenogears top out the list for me. You can’t beat them. If you want something a little off the beaten path, the soundtrack to Ruiner is pretty fucking rad.

So, by his own admission, he never used AI before, had no idea how it works, and didn’t bother to research it much before throwing himself into the video. On top of that, his main concern seems to be that he’d already done a Wes Anderson parody, and he thought the AI’s version was worse. If I didn’t know better, I’d say he’s one of the thousands of doomsayers that I see every day now talking about how “AI WILL BE THE END OF TRUE ARTISTRY!!!”. Actually, that’s exactly what I’ll say, because for all of his hot air, he failed to actually make a point in the entire video. In one breath he would say that AI threatens to destroy all media, and then, in the next he’d say that AI is bad at everything it does and is completely unconvincing. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it, again; if your art can’t survive AI, you aren’t an artist. This guy is worried because AI is doing better parodies in an afternoon than he can do in a week, but true artists, like Wes Anderson, can’t be copied so easily. He’s so close, but he doesn’t quite get there, and that’s frustrating as a viewer. I hope he comes to grip with it, and learns that if he wants to keep milking that Youtube algorithm for his rent, he’ll have to either get with the times, or just get better.

I’m getting really close to just not using the internet anymore. I only use it to stream movies, and doom scroll lemmy right now, anyway. The only reason I have an email is for spam. Take awake the only facade of privacy I have and I may as well hang it all up and walk away.

Heroes changed the way I look at writer’s strikes…

Obviously, I can’t confirm this 100%, but based on what he’s said in interviews, I believe he has gone through a similar shift in views that I went through on my journey to Atheism, though he hasn’t made the turn yet. I believe that he is having trouble reconciling his beliefs with his morals. He has publicly stated that he supports Roe v Wade, so I think he is on the right track. While I totally understand and support not wanting to give your money or clicks to a piece of shit, I also think that if some people are on the cusp of change, it only hurts the cause if we shove them away for their past. Again, I don’t know his mind, and I’m just going on my own personal experience, but these are my feelings on the matter.

I agree, I almost passed on the video because the song is so overplayed, but this was REALLY awesome.

Even if I don’t always agree with his jaded outlook, he’ll always make me giggle with a joke about trousers.
