  • As a wrestling fan, what giddy described is pretty much true. For a billionaire, Tony is “nice” (too nice, because his niceness has lead to a toxic backstage environment, though he did finally fire CM Punk so thats nice). Like sure it doesn’t outweight the exploitation inherent in being a billionaire, but Tony is indeed a “nice guy” and does go out of his way to do nice things for his employees. Also gives them health insurance in an industry where thats not the standard and such.

And the question was “a billionaire who done anything good” not “a billionaire who’s overally contribution to the world is good”. Giddy answered the question correctly. Sorry to autism you with pedantry but like, I have to insist on some technically accurateness here.

Like honestly, did you even know who Tony was before this post or did you just respond wrong because you were going to do that to anyone who said any billionaire did something good? Are you actually knowledgeable about this subject?

I’m not saying he doesnt get the wall in a revolution or anything. But the post asked “Did anything good”, and he did. he did good things for his employees.

  • My main thing is the “own the libs” type narrative because I considered myself a liberal. I didn’t want to feel attacked while trying to expand my view. But reading through these I think that’s because Ive always defined myself as a “liberal” but I think I just conflated that word with “left”

A lot of people do this, I used to do this. Its basically the linguistic norm in America. Back when I was an Obama liberal, it was because I thought he supported my social democratic values (Berniecrat, basically) that I held at the time because he was good at pretending he did. And I definitely thought I was “the left” then. I’ve moved left from there since then. But I do absolutely identify with your position and why people saying “dunk on libs” might be offputting to someone who has always thought that liberal meant left. But yeah, by Liberal we mean the original definition of the term, “person who supports capitalism”.

Also, can you explain pbb to me because people were talking about the nuance of it but it just looks like some shitty pig balls to me.

Eehhhhhhh I’m going to disagree that there’s much nuance to this but I dont totally know the history of the emote lol. Maybe someone else does. I think its just something people use to respond to outright fascist opinions (which sometimes, there is an unfortunate crossover between the opinions of a centrist liberal and a fascist, which is where the saying "scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds) comes from. But there’s literally a post in our instance right now calling for people to chill a bit on using it and use it only when someone REALLY deserves it.

Also, thank you for keeping an open mind and being willing to learn new things.

  • OK I went to the front page of hexbear > local and there’s only one thread that says “dunking on libs” and its someone being BORED of that and wanting to just chill. There’s a couple posts in our dunk tank using posts made in other instances as material which I dont think you should have a problem with because it focuses our energy THERE instead. And those were there before federation. The dunk tank is just for anywhere we find opinions we find laughable.

Honestly, the rest is stuff that I’d hope you’d be on board with as a thread, like being mad a black Chik-Fil-A worker was sent home for dying her hair blonde.

I won’t deny that my comrades enjoy “dunking” though. But like, what you said in your original post isn’t that. Its not us having a stated goal of wrecking your site or whatever. Its not a vast conspiracy. You said there was a stated goal and that just doesn’t exist. Is paranoia.

  • Hey, yaknow what, I think we’re going a little hard on it too actually. Not necessarily with volume of posts. I think anyone can post as much as they want, there just happen to be a lot of us, we’re opinionated, and we were just let out of our cage, and some topics that we happen to have strong opinions on happened to be posted just in time for that, AND then someone posts something like this where they literally ask who we are and what we are doing. I think at the very least you can agree we have a right to respond to this right?

But with some of the aggression and things like pig poop balls. Yeah, I think we’ve probably gone a bit hard on it and I try to engage with a little more good faith.

But I’m still wondering where we stated this “Goal” you said we stated.
