  • The question isn’t about admiration, it’s about considering them worthy of being respected as fellow human beings who are also struggling. You’re just shitting on them because the way they make their living is more directly linkable to sources you don’t like.

Every job is going to be that way, one way or another. Even many charities will have shady ties somewhere, that most of the volunteers and employees don’t know shit about. Shitting on these people because you don’t respect the things they’re linked to, and ultimately have no control over, is petty and meaningless. It devalues them as humans, and as much as I’m sure you don’t think so, they’re still human. And deserve to be treated as such.

If they’re like the Pauls or something, I can see criticizing them for being shitty people… but that’s not what you’re doing, you’re shitting on them for being part of a system that exists whether they make use of it or not. And will continue to exist whether they use it or not.

literally built on a cursed graveyard

You think there haven’t been efforts to improve, both by the Wayne family in general and Bruce specifically? Not only does the medium necessitate that things be available to fix constantly, but in-universe there’s about ten secret societies, a dozen ancient curses, and probably a demi-god or two whose express purpose seems to be to keep Gotham as miserable as possible.

Real life isn’t even as easy as “throw money at it to make it better”, much less a universe that is predicated on needing something to fix on a monthly basis or they lose revenue.

Ah, the usual “I saw that scene from Snyder’s BatmanVSuperman so I feel I can authoritatively speak to the entire character”

He has gone through probably hundreds of writers at this point, all with their own interpretations. But generally, when they stick to the “I hate killing and guns” type, he’s not breaking mooks over his knee Bane style. It’s not universal, and some of the writing is just bad. But that doesn’t define the character anywhere except the minds of people who just want something to shit on.
