They really need to start naming shit better because is this AOSP Android or Google Android. My money is on this being a Google Dialer specific feature.

The issue has been open since 2017. Payment apps require a high level of Google Play Services DRM bullshit. i do not understand it well enough to explain why it doesnt work, but enough to tell you it doesnt.

NFC payment apps dont work with MicroG, I’m not even sure they work with Graphene’s sandboxed gapps.

The amount of times ive had a large transfer over WiFi fail after like 15 minutes of waiting is more than reason enough. Happened with LocalSend and FTP. I’d rather just use a physical reliable connection. Not to mention WiFi will not work for a Laptop Dock.

Faster file transfer speeds if I’m taking video off the phone, and I would like to purchase a Nexdock eventually so I can have an easy small thing to carry around for server administration instead of my 16" laptop.

ho-ly shit. this was a good read and it damn well predicted where we are almost 9 years on. 2 things that stuck out

Graphene is the only rom not hamstrung by thay issue because they have OEM access. They had QPR1 code before most anyone else did. Im not a huge fan of the project but, credit where its due i dont think theyre going anywhere.

If you use Lineage, a fork of Lineage (iode, /e/), Calyx (out of commission), Graphene, or plain root and set the TTL of hotspot packets to 65 you can bypass the limit

unlocked bootloader and id be sold. throw lineageos on it with like 2 apps and experience bliss
