Woah I wish I had the same knowledge you do about networking haha! Taking notes here that’s for sure, thanks for the input!

I live in Norway, thanks for the tips though!
Thanks for the write up! 🙌
I will likely go for either option 1 or 3. I need to reevaluate wether cable is possible or not. If not then I’ll go with a mesh. Only “problem” with mesh is that I really wanted to buy into the unifi ecosystem, but their mesh stuff is above my budget. Bit maybe I could just get the unifi express and pair that with another branded mesh system? The place is only 85 square metres, but on two floors. My office is ofcourse furthest away from where the modem comes into the house. Anyway, I will need to evaluate again when I’m there to see if it’s possible or not to run cables. Thanks again for detailed response 💛
You’re probably right, I need to look again at running cables. But it is on separate floors too. Have not moved in yet, so will have to evaluate again when I move in. Thanks for the tips.
A set of four what? I’m sorry, not quite following.
Didn’t know this was an option even, will defo look into this asap and evaluate wether this fits my use case or not, thanks!
Norway. It works, but I dont have a networking card anyways and much prefer having things wired if possible.
I wonder what causes it really, didn’t use to happen, but seem to be a common problem for many.
I can’t recall it being an issue previously… 🙁
Yeah thats why I love Tailscale so much, its so simple :)
I’ll look into using just WG then! Thanks
Tailscale isn’t a classic vpn such as Proton and Mullvad. Tailscale crates a network between your own devices, but has Mullvad as an integration for those who want to run Mullvad as an exit node. I don’t need a vpn to mask my location, I need it to connect my devices together. I’ll look into using just wire guard instead though.
Indeed, I think ur right my mobile network usage is 68%… So I’ll avoid using that over night.
Ah that’s a shame, I love using Tailscale 🙁
I quite liked this website for when I was starting out. Learned a bunch of what was needed and recommended. Author is also host on the podcast show called Selfhosted, truly a great resource for learning too!
It’s basically the same reason for why I choose to shop locally rather than buying things online. I despise monopoly and will always, if still practical, choose the second option. Also sometimes you can tell there is more passion coming from smaller Devs and communities, I feel like that’s the case here too.
Windscribe has hilarious marketing, seriously, check it out. But their products are also just solid, and works on Linux. They also make the service called ControlD, which is also a great service.
Mullvad remains top dog when it comes to privacy. You can still torrent without port forwarding, it’s just more limited. If you need port forwarding, then is give Windscribe a go. While most people will recommend ProtonVPN, with good reason, I personally prefer to stick with the underdogs.
Yeah LS is truly a great resource for so many topics. Thanks for the suggestion! 🙌
APKmirror is alright, otherwise you can download RacoonAPK that connects to o Playstore to extracts any APK you want.
