Well, I do wish they would promote the actual use and limitations of AI and stop making up crap and overselling the use cases. I use ChatGPT at work all the time as a start for research, but if I took any of it as being reliable info to run with I would be in grave trouble. It is a great tool that has saved me much time because I know how far to trust it and how to use it. The progress is very impressive as I’ve been using AI art services for years, and the difference between the random blobs from back then and the great stuff it can generate now is pretty stark. Same thing with the LLMs. I’ve been using ChatGPT since it showed up and it has improved greatly since then. Before all this I talked to people who were using AI training on various picture recognition projects where getting data from other sensors was not practical. … Overall AI is pretty exciting, but the non-stop hype and hate headlines is doing nobody any favors.

Hmm. I never watch Youtube Kids, but regular Youtube is one of my primary entertainment sources. All I get if I keep scrolling are people making food, game play throughs, science channels, animation, AMVs. The worst thing I see are music videos no worse than MTV had… Maybe you should just ban them from YouTube Kids… My biggest complaint is that I have to manually click on subscriptions to see the things I subscribed to. I pay for premium, so maybe that makes a difference?

Stop begging for censorship. That never ends up good. Accurate tagging of media is what we need and a way to filter that ourselves.

You are correct about the meaning being not to have other gods, I didn’t say it was a mistranslation. I said they are purposefully taking the alternate and more popular meaning of the word “before”. In the scripture it means ‘in front of’ or ‘in my sight’. They take the meaning as ‘in line in front of’. Because of the eccentricities of English and many other languages, the meaning could be taken either way if you didn’t have context. Also, the joke hinges on ignoring that mentioning other gods doesn’t mean they exist or exist in the way they are purported to exist. In that German translation from the post I was replying to, the translation was more specific and didn’t lend as much confusion.

The joke hinges on misusing an alternate meaning to an English word that is a translation already from ancient Hebrew (likely via Latin). I am pretty sure the artist is well aware of this. Of course, some people will read this comic and think they discovered some profound contradiction…

I fought hard against that for years. I still only use ‘app’ for phone programs, but I stopped correcting people every time they used the term for anything else. It isn’t technically wrong, but it grates on my nerves for some reason.

This guy is a hero. Inkscape is so much better than Adobe. Also, I couldn’t have done some recent PDF to AutoCad conversions without that software. Autocad chokes on pulling vectors out of PDFs for some reason. It does it, but it is a mess. The bad thing is I know it could do better because if you just pull in the same PDF that it struggled with as an external source, it renders it fine, including all the vector information. I could be doing something wrong, but it shouldn’t be that hard.

Oh, good gravy, I feel like I did watch that intro when I saw that it was different. I watched that series quite a few years ago and I have a terrible memory. It might be time to delve into that chronological Trek marathon I have been threatening myself with ever since my co-workier did one a couple years ago.

Heh. Well I might go back for it but I skipped the intro every time after the first, except when I was making popcorn or something, then I only had to listen until I finished diving for the mouse.
