So if you don’t find niche on your instance, it might be somewhere on other lemmy instance, kbin instance or somewhere on Microblogs/blogs in related #koalas #koala . If you find people with same interests you can create community yourself. It’s wild,prototype,unexplored west here. GL.

If you need social network message service and want fast loads and less mobile traffic/device resources usage then Mastodon is a king with very tried and true nature. Firefish is fork of Misskey so I can tell a bit as Misskey user. If you want everything in one social service then Misskey/Firefish is the one. Build-in rss reader, memos, gallery, pages, channel for chat like experience, plugins, minigames, likes=emoji that convey message, so… Feature bloat.

The only real reddit drama that I personally was invested was r/animemes with Trap ban, so it’s easy to ignore chat, follows, cryptocurency, Reddit becoming close sourced, Avatars (I set up one and change it 1 time when free was given and like ehh it’s gamer thingy lookalike will use it).
I got my GPDR or how it called request, but didn’t login till day 20 and you have 7 days to download and 30 to request link… well I requested link 3 times and still error.

@orcrist @lvxferre There is narrowly targeted forums, case in point Totalbiscuits dedicated one. Problem lies with first rest in peace a good videogame critic. Second same as paid checkmark on Twitter. Why would you pay for service you can’t trust? There is subset of people who don’t make research and pay for security, but it’s mentality of people who pay for confidence. Those same people who will leave Twitter and go Misskey. They will pay to support Misskey rather than to pay for a checkmark.

Still think how to fill Kbin section and as I use Misskey also will be written about… But it’s so much feature bloat that I would need wiki for wiki… Half joking.

@HubertManne @zinklog And that it’s fine, we all have a=our own Mantras that we listen too or Superstitions you can also say. What most important that you yourself mentioned, that people used to do something and now they are complacent. If you compare how Japan, Europe and USA handled Covid you can see that something you have to learn and repeat and some things you have to do even if your society is pushing against it. Yeah tell someone to wear a mask when they cough!

@zinklog “History loves repeat itself” With Covid , Wars and even daily life you see this so so many times. On big or little scales but this is a almost mantra to me " History is spiral it always comes back to point x" Sometimes it’s scary because you know exactly what happened and what happening now can happen again…

Do you know how many use tweeter to mastodon conversion thingy to find old pals and use it as a message board instead you know… SEARCHING VIA # ? so yeah it can be boring if people don’t use # and only advanced users speak and search things. REally look at local feed and not only in eng! Translate it!
