Fediverse@lemmy.world•What is the point of posting on the fediverse if it is going to be moderated similarly to Reddit?
23·2 days agoI don’t know, maybe we can have a fucking nice community to go to without power-tripping mods? Wouldn’t that be fucking nice?!
No, we just get the same shit-stains. at this rate, why even bother having any platforms like these?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do communities make 'unpopular opinion' based sub-communities, but can't handle it when someone gives a good one?
16·2 days agoThere are a lot of absolute shit opinions there, honey. You seem to forget that a lot of people on that instance are very argumentative at a given, that would guarantee trigger argumentative-like responses.
And you’re going to honestly believe a mod’s reasoning at face-value? Wow, you lack some serious coherent insight and awareness. You’re definitely the kind of fool who doesn’t read articles but believes headlines at face value.

Yeah, insightful…not really.

Games@lemmy.world•While we eagerly await the second coming of Steam Machines, it's worth remembering what a gloriously awful mess Valve got itself in over a decade ago
11·2 days agoofficial Linux gaming OS.
I wish they would fully commit to this instead of just giving people the option to install any OS on it.
People are going to install Windows if they can’t or won’t figure their way around Proton/Steam OS.

25·2 days agoAnd what Valve will get themselves in again if they do not price this right.
Consoles are essentially time-based luxuries because the hardware and technology can be obsolete within 1 - 2 years at a given. That’s why consoles remodel themselves after awhile to extend their life.
Valve seems to want to give people an alternative to prebuilt machines on the market. But, if they can’t price right where it’ll make someone think “I can build a better PC than that” or “I can find a better prebuilt than that” then the Steam Machine was a waste of everyone’s time and labor.
Should just stick to the Frame and Deck.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•are there any street tips you all can share?

Honor, Street Cred, Respect, whatever. None of that is worth injuries and the bills from the hospital or getting involved with the police over.

Games@lemmy.world•Our first look at the Steam Machine, Valve’s ambitious new game console
25·3 days agoThe specs do not impress me for a company that prides itself for being technologically creative. The Steam Deck was a massive success for what they were able to do with that. But this? This is like a glorified Raspberry Pi if it was done by Valve.
Even if you could expand the RAM and storage, everything else is just sitting there waiting to be obsolete in a couple years. I just don’t get who they’re trying to make this for. You can easily build a PC with a reasonable budget that could easily tackle things this cube probably couldn’t.
Individuals who game, are more likely going to look at this wanting all of the latest AAA games to work and I don’t see this cube doing the workload for long. And for the projected price point, it definitely won’t be worth the price.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit's Ban Evasion Detection Is Fucking Orwellian
77·4 days agoPeople don’t join Reddit to partake in things politically. The real attraction is how numerous that there are of communities anyone can join, that covers just about nearly anything anyone has ever thought of. It’s almost endless. There’s a community for someone out there and there’s interaction in them.
The problem was when people got fucking politics into their god damn heads way too damn much that they practically ruined everything for everyone everywhere. And I find it ironic that you call it a right wing propaganda machine when the last time I was there, there were volumes of these right-wingers complaining up and down how Reddit was left-wing.
But that’s just an example too of how damn contagious all of these fucking politics has gotten everything.

Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit's Ban Evasion Detection Is Fucking Orwellian
5·4 days agoYeah I know any and all accounts I’ll ever make on Reddit will immediately be shadow-banned. The old trick of making a new account through your usual email, going on AskReddit, get a few karma points to be in the clear and be on your way is no longer working.
I’ve been on Reddit for 10-ish years so I’m pretty sure they’ve long caught on to all behavior patterns. It is ridiculous how much shit gets allowed while you feel like you’re the one targeted and banned for being the one playing by what rules there are, as fucking loose as they are.
I can appeal as many times as I want but I’m never getting a response back, because they know they have me by the IP and that’s essentially all that they’ll ever need. They see me make an account through my IP and it’s like “ohp, there they are again…BAN!” kind of deal. I’ve undergone a complete PC reinstall of Windows to erase all and any of those evercookies they’ve been practicing to keep those who try ban evading away, still the same thing.
Doesn’t matter what e-mail service I use, same thing. Could have gone VPN but I think that didn’t work either at one point.
It has just simply gotten ridiculous. And with Spez there, the shitstain, being a proclaimed billionaire now off the backs of everyone expendable, why should he give a single shit about retooling anything? He’s done away with APIs that were useful, that was the beginning of the end there if there wasn’t before.
I know someone mentioned a method in the comments here as to how to circumvent everything, maybe I’ll try that, I guess. Yeah I should be the change and whatnot for the Fediverse but we’re 2 years into the matter and I’m not seeing any substantial progression. I see hundreds of potential magazines just float around, dead. While there’s like 20 Technology ones, 30 Games ones, 25 more Tech-related ones .etc .etc that make me roll my eyes because it only tells me where the real priorities are.
When the Fediverse should be so much more than that, because Reddit still outclasses it by how many niche and relatively active microcommunities that there is.

Games@lemmy.world•'The PS5 is only in the middle of [it's lifespan],' says Sony CFO
5·5 days agoAnd it’s undergone like one remodel already, 5 years in. So, it’s going to get another remodel about 2 or so years down the road, signifying again how close to its end it would be. Then we’d get an announcement about another 2 years from Sony themselves about the PS6 and whatever else.
Then the PS5 will eventually cease.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•How do I torrent safely in the US if I can't afford a VPN?
1·5 days agoVPNs are dirt cheap. How can you say you can’t afford one? What is your budget, $0.50?

No, idiot. If that was the case, then everyone should get a blog, by your logic and we wouldn’t have anyone to be posting here.
Just fuck you, dude, your bullshit logic. Just take it and choke. You’ve nothing insightful to say, but adding fuel to the fire, you stupid motherfucker. You’re so fucking pompous it is unbelievable.
