Steam did an amazing job on the controller management, you can already remap everything. Disabling track pads should be easy

Dumb idea: if the configuration is on a file, you can make it immutable. Something with chattr +i can’t remember. I take no responsibility if your server catches fire, and you may have to manually set the flag on and off if you want to add new media/change settings. It may be more complicated if everything is inside a “full” sql db
As for the rest, either start jellyfin at boot or a custom launcher or kodi. I don’t know if plasmashell is still working, it can probably be configured to only show the correct stuff. There are also custom launchers for android tv
No I speed read your message just as tonight I speed slept (as in, I didn’t sleep much)
Maybe someone should create a loot generator game…
Akcthually you can publish drm free games on steam, it’s just that you cannot download an installer. But for some games you can just copy the folder and it’s going to work even without steam. Also GOG enforces drm free games
Installed 4239 packages 8000 severe vulnerabilities 200 packages looking for funding

Fucking finally, let’s hope they fixed the bugs introduced with the previous version. I had to rollback and it’s been three weeks of manually skipping Nvidia updates

Such a ride

Sadly ss2 is just not that good. I remember I was going through levels with the left mouse button always pressed, it was more like I was just aiming the guns the whole game… Ss Tse on the other hand is still a great game. Still have to try the last 2 of the serie

Insect can easily survive without humans

Looks really nice! Thought it was a terraria clone at first, will check out the reviews
Edit: bought it since it’s 75% off, played around 2 hours, it’s pretty entertaining, I’m not a super fan of this kind of turn based combat in general, but we’ll see

You can install it and start it only if needed, there’s no need to fiddle with your current DE

Unless you play only multiplayer with anticheat it’s going to be great. Sign up on protondb, it will give you a report of your steam games compatibility
I think most selfhosters already know/use Linux, so management issues are already known. About the ease of use, if you manage services with docker it’s really easy to bring them up/down, and if you want some GUI there’s portainer.

Yeah, I love open source and privacy, but developers are staying on github because it’s not enshittified (yet). I do wish we’d all move to another platform, if anyone wants to keep the github UI, gitea (and forgejo/codeberg) straight up cloned it at a certain point, see https://codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo for example
Lenovo Legion. If you pick a configurable one and remove windows they’ll lower the price accordingly (sometimes 100€ for windows pro). Some models offer Linux pre-installed.
