It’s a trend in road cycling at least. You completely degrease the chain and then dip it in a special hot wax. Apparently it lasts longer than oil and doesn’t attract dirt.

I do have to oil the chain on my bike every now and then though. (I know about waxing, haven’t made the jump yet)

Am I missing something? It still costs more money to use Windows over Linux, and I think that is the reason why governments are moving over.
Damarus@feddit.orgto Opensource@programming.dev•Microsoft’s Windows Subsystem for Linux is now open-source11·11 days agoAnd how is this going to stop anyone from moving away from Microsoft?
Damarus@feddit.orgto Technology@lemmy.world•The Windows Subsystem for Linux is now open source.English131·11 days agoI don’t think that, as Microsoft hasn’t done a lot (any?) of that stuff in recent years. It’s good to be cautious but really what is the problem with opening the source for something that already existed for a while and is embraced by many?

For pro users it is pretty terrible, but I wouldn’t be surprised if many regular users like it. You still have a normal local file search from within the file explorer.
Damarus@feddit.orgto Games@sh.itjust.works•The Betrayal of Limited Run Games: What They Don't Want You to SeeEnglish1·1 month agoThat would be the optimal case, however in reality, limited runs and other marketing tactics heavily manipulate people into buying overpriced stuff they don’t need. I think it’s unfair to put all the responsibility of deciding what acceptable prices are on the buyer, when companies spend billions in researching marketing tactics. That’s why there needs to be more guard rails coming from governments, so that consumers can’t be abused as much.
It’s called dynamic compression, often labeled as night mode. Makes quiet stuff louder and loud stuff more quiet. My AVR has it as a feature and probably most TVs as well.
