Alien anal probes ha e and always will be the accepted form of gayness in the rural parts of America. No one wants to say they let Charlie dick them down when they got drunk in the field. “It’s aliens, I swear!!”

Is empathy only a human trait? Doubtful. Animals have been known to show empathy as well. Humans aren’t all that special, we’ve just learned to fuck over everything else on the planet.
AlexLost@lemmy.worldto Canada@lemmy.ca•Canada’s hockey case raised questions about toxic culture – so why did the accuser end up on trial?205·3 days agoBecause of toxic culture? It’s right there in the headline, their behaviour is toxic and it is protected because they’re all just a bunch of good ol boys. This happens every time, in all walks of life.

AlexLost@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How did you decide what you generally wanted to do with your life?1·5 days agoCollege. You have no idea what jobs are even possible to do until you put yourself out there. Learn a couple skills, find an avenue that interests you and dive in. I’ve just stumbled into most things but wanted to do something that would be useful in everyday life too. Became a cook then a chef, went to trade school for auto mechanics. Now I run a marina?! PSA: Don’t buy a boat!
AlexLost@lemmy.worldto Canada@lemmy.ca•Workers are being priced out of Toronto. Can we reverse course?13·5 days agoNo. The people in the game have a vested Interest to keep home values high, and those not in the game don’t have any skin in the game to offer a valued opinion to those already in it. It could be fixed, but it won’t be because too many people are banking on the ever increasing value. Not to mention all those just getting in would be submarined by a loss of valuation. Their mortgage would probably immediately default as the value does not match the risk.
I don’t own, I think the whole thing is rotten. Just a realist. It’s never going to get better unless the government intervenes on everyone’s behalf, and more than half the voting block would be pissed if they even hinted at doing something. That doesn’t offer job security, and it’s sad that’s that is how decisions get made in this day and age. Good of the people, or good of the party, you can’t have both…

AlexLost@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI CEO Sam Altman thinks some jobs will be 'totally, totally gone' thanks to AI, but he still wouldn't trust ChatGPT with his 'medical fate'English8·10 days agoAI would be great at replacing CEOs and upper management. Inane ideas that have no basis in reality. Slowing down the process by shoving their nose into things they have no business being involved in and trying to fix them when they ha e no idea what they are doing. Making regrettable remarks/decisions/actions on social media and bringing ire upon the company.
All these would be gone with AI at the helm, profits would be through the roof, executive costs would drop off a cliff, productivity would be up. Heck, they’d likely actually treat their workers fairly because they understand data and how to correlate it into action. AI can schmooze with the best of them and kiss the ass of anyone who needs it. I can’t think of a negative reason not to replace CEOs with AI immediately!

How screwed (financially) would I be in the US?4·16 days agoWith the recent changes to the medical insurance landscape in America, and thousands upon thousands of people losing their jobs due to various factors, your 90% figure is pretty generous. Add in the fact that most insurance is tied directly into employment, Americans have much less options than the rest of the free world, unless you are filthy rich.
Lies, they are telling lies so their rich friends can continue to get even filthier rich and not ha e to bear any of the costs of the damage they are doing to the world at large. Prices will not go down.
