1 year agoWhy are we asking anyone other than the corporations that are manufacturing all the plastics to do anything about plastic use? Grocery stores don’t make plastic things. They buy what’s available and low cost to get the job done. If the companies that are making the plastic bags, containers, cellophane, etc are penalized for their continued production we may see change. No plastic manufacturer is going to invest in any alternative product if they don’t have to. For over 20 years the push/blame has been on the individual (make sure you recycle all the plastic you bought) and now grocery stores. Makes no sense.
Guess that’s a matter of opinion. Are most products still packaged in plastic? How many millions of bottles of water/soda are sold each day, week, year? Do we want to save the planet in time for future generations or are we justifying our own use of plastics by saying we tried?
