Guilt for administering a death has been thought of before; that’s part of the reason why there’s a firing ‘squad’. You have however many people with lethal rounds, and however many people with dummy/blank rounds, so nobody knows for sure whose bullets were live & killed him.
Hmm… The question is how reliable it is to hit and how much the operational costs are. I think a bullet is cheaper.
I doubt running a crane or gantry for an hour costs very much. You could add guide rails, á la guillotine.
I mean you need to build one of these things everywhere you execute people… And they need to operate every time you execute someone.
At that point just use a guillotine.
Youd need to design a pretty good fall room that can handle frequent dropping and cleanup is a mix of dust, rubble and human body
The bullet is better. Though guillotine work as well and had style points.
Maybe something like the trash compactor from Star Wars but with a rocket sled acceleration of one of the walls?
The thing about a bullet, is someone has to shoot it. The crane could be set on a timer, so nobody has to feel guilty for pulling the trigger.
The one setting the timer
That’s a thought. 🙂
