Samsung might copy Google and increase update support to seven years starting with the Galaxy S24 series, according to reliable sources this weekend. Further promo images have also been leaked, advertising some camera and AI features, whereas the latter might cost extra down the road.
Outside of AI, 7 Years of updates sounds awesome. It would be a welcome change matching Google in updates. Other manufacturers should take note or be left in the dust.
I’m tempted by the S24 just because it’s smaller, bit I’ve gotten so used to the special features on my Pixel phones…
I want an unlockable bootloader :((
Such as? Aside from flashing roms (admittedly very big) what benefits do you find over a Samsung?
Now Playing, Call Screening, Hold for Me, Direct my Call, copying text from the app switcher, the amazing camera and Night Sight
I’ll need to look up what some of these are.
A lot of them were things that I had actually forgotten were Pixel-exclusive, until I looked at a list
That’s happened to me with Samsung. So many times I’ve seen an article about something coming to android that I’ve already had and assumed was stock.
Fuck Samsung and their bootloader unlock BS
Can someone else beat them with 10 years of support now? pretty plz ty
It appears to be 7 years of security updates and not OS updates. Nice but not, Google level nice.
Edit: The article was wrong. It’s 7 years of OS updates and security patches.
As with everything Samsung tends to do I’ll bet the AI stuff is half baked.
AI subscription is definitely something I’m looking forward to, gotta be my next phone 100% just because of that! Edit: didn’t think that /s was really that necessary
Until you realize that their implementation of AI, whatever that means, in their case is mediocre, and nothing more than a marketing term.
Still more a tracking device than an OS. Samsung is literally malware.
Why is this down voted lol they’re completely right.
Note for Samsung users, change your keyboard back to Samsung keyboard for a second and check the clipboard. That’s right! It saves everything you’ve copied, regardless of if it was the active keyboard.
