Hard to feel sorry for anyone actively putting money in Tesla/Musk’s pocket @ this point
I still don’t get why people buy Tesla products. You know what they’re like now. What are you doing?

Personally, I’d never buy a Tesla because of how much of a pain they are to get repaired. Have to go to their service centers. You can’t just go to some local repair place.
The nearest local center to me is about a 2-hour drive away. So firstly the car needs to function enough to actually get to the repair center, and then secondly I’m stuck there until they fix the car or I get a pickup to come home. Meanwhile, practically every other car I can just take to a local place and walk back home in 10 minutes.
I will say that where you live makes a huge difference for this. I’m in a major metro area and I’ve never had to take it to a service center; they always come to my house. Having pretty much always lived here, I can’t really speak for living more rurally or even small-town but I’d guess there are other concessions one would make living there (just as we make concessions with our traffic, COL and distance to open space). But in this case it definitely hurts adoption from those areas.
same, i actually love the car it’s been super reliable and it’s fun to drive. But having Musk rats dirty image attached to it makes me cringe every time i look at it.
I’m just hoping he somehow leaves Tesla and we can wash it clean somehow.
But as it stands ill never buy another Tesla.
Please don’t associate muskrats with musk. Muskrats are cute!
fair point.
I don’t feel embarrassed but when I bought mine it was far and away the best value. Now there’s many more options and teslas are priced way higher than them. I’ve tried out a couple of them and my next car probably won’t be a Tesla due to price more than anything.
I’m curious what you’ve looked at? In New England and as a snowboarder, AWD and high range are both requirements and I’m not seeing anything cheaper than the Model 3 unfortunately.
I am in Canada and at the time I hadn’t skied before so that wasn’t a concern. But there was the leaf and the bolt really were the only 2 other available cars. And the base model 3 was only about 3-5k more than the others and it had a better range and the supercharger network so for me it made no sense to get anything besides the model 3
Also wasn’t there also a contravorcy about how their heaters didn’t work in cold weather.
Weird ad campaign, but OK.

Why doesn’t a Tesla smell like a new car? Because it has an Elon musk. (From dad joke lemmy a couple days ago)
And you can also smell that musky smell on Twitter and decide to go to a Federated network instead like Mastodon.
how is this even legal? I don’t think this would ever fly in europe.
I think they can’t even sell the cyber truck in Europe
They absolutely can’t. This pedestrian murder machine will never be legal in Europe.
thank fucking god.
Ofc it wouldn’t. It’s very illegal, but Tesla knows this. They’re using it as a threat to control what the buyers should do.
And also, you have rights in the EU. You can’t sue people as a multi mega corp for nothing.
You can’t sue people for nothing in the US either. They have a few laws. - You’re allowed to try but it’ll get kicked out of court.
It’s all bark and no bite, if anyone actually tried it they wouldn’t be able to do anything. As long as the price is paid off Tesla don’t own the vehicle so they have no rights over it.
Getting to the point where you get it kicked out of court will still cost you enough to ruin you financially though. So it’s a great deterrent.
So yeah, you can sue for anything. But even if you know you’d never win the lawsuit, you can tie the other person up in court and waste their time and money.
If you sue for too little, the case will get summary judgement, but that doesn’t really seem like a risk in this case unless there is a specific law that makes this clause unenforceable.
It’s legal if it’s in the sales contract. Usually there is a timeframe.
You should look into Ferrari and their rules. They are even crazier than Tesla for things like this.

Your country put regulations about contract law in their constitution?
Funny, I just watched HumancentiPad yesterday.
As long as the thing you promise to do (or refrain from doing) is something that you would otherwise have the legal right to do, it can be an enforceable contract term.
In this case, the buyer promises to refrain from selling their car in the first year–something they otherwise would have a legal right to do.
A contract for murder, on the other hand, would not be enforceable because there is no legal right to commit murder.
Is there a time clause? If so, preventing resale within a month or two could help more minimize scalping.
Yes, that’s exactly their goal, except I believe it was one year
after submitting a $122,135 order
The buyer told us that he paid a $250 order fee on Friday and previously paid a $100 reservation fee.
Tesla doesn’t have to refund those types of fees if a buyer cancels
You have to pay $350 to get the privilege to fork over a hundred and twenty grand? My jaw literally dropped.
You forget we live in a society where we have bought tickets and raffles for the chance of being able to buy Air Jordans or Yeezys or w/e fuck shoe that did that.
Actually, I missed that. And I’d rather go back to unknowing it. Shoe shopping is a chore, not a prize.
I’ve been wearing the same two pairs of shoes for about 4 years now. I thought one pair was failing earlier in the year, but the glue repair held and I’ve continued to wear them.
Car culture is weird
Tesla culture* Normal car enthusiasts aren’t like this
Honestly Tesla culture reminds me of any brand of car fanboyism. The ones I got most familiar with was the supposed “hot rodders” that viewed a junked out piece of rust that’s sat in a field 20 years worth thousands of dollars to spend thousands of dollars to not drive it. Got sick of it as someone who’s first car was a 70s one and attempting to find parts and pieces was people telling a high schooler to just take it to a shop and spend more than I’ve spent on my current modern car+motorcycle because none of them actually bothered working on their shit before.
Now I said that, there’s also the motorcycle culture, and we’re weird as fuck.

This feels a little more, I don’t know, direct than car culture mentality. Buying a Telsa, at least in past few years, feels like direct support to one person. I don’t see people with expensive sportscars and assume they think the CEO of the manufacturer is a hero. Telsa buyers probably don’t feel that way, but stuff like this leads me to believe they do.
Yes and an overwhelming amount of people love doing it.
Man, stop linking to twitx
Shitter
That is absolute gold right there
This guy needs snow tires. You should also put snow tires for this condition even if it’s AWD, right ? Maybe even chains for an off-road slope?
Yes, if you’re going off-road like that. Apparently these “trucks” also don’t have assist points to pull them from. Notice the straps are hooked to the front suspension or something.
They must have time down points otherwise you couldn’t tow them - and I believe they need to be towed for pretty much any repairs.
I’m pretty sure that’s a RWD CyberTruck, which would explain a lot. That said, I fucking hate this car and Elon can suck it.
Edit:
Maybe it is AWD. Seems like the power is applied with more to rear than front.
Front wheels are spinning
“Must be RWD!”
…
They come in 3 motor versions, 2 in the back, 1 in the front, so you might right about the uneven power distribution.
2 in the back, one in the front
On an electric vehicle, I think we call that the shocker.
Most all wheel drive systems work like this I think. Audi Quattro for instance is 60/40 if I’m not mistaken.
Imagine getting a RWD and treating it like an AWD because you are a dumbass
Imagine getting a
RWDanything that has anything to do with Phoney Starkand treating it like an AWDbecause you are a dumbassIf you watch the video you’ll see both the front and rear wheels are spinning.
Are you able to return it if you dislike, or are you just fucked?
If I remember correctly, you must let Tesla buy it back rather than reselling.
If this is true, and people stupidly signed a contract stating as such, I have zero sympathy for them if they get sued. What a ridiculous stipulation.
Yeah but it’s not gay cause it’s a robot.
Plus there’sa panel gap for any sized wang.
Anybody buying one of these clown cars deserves all the bad that comes with it.
Tesla is hot garbage. This “truck” is proof.
The whole Tesla truck thing really reminds me of the DMC DeLorean fiasco. Is musk imitating John DeLorean? He’s falling about as fast. Both are silver and look weird.
The DeLorean looks awesome. You take that back.
Yes take it back… to the future!
I’ll see myself out.

Wait a minute, doc, you’re telling me you built a TIME MACHINE… out of a Cybertruck?
Worst reboot ever, instead of randomly shutting off during crucial scenes it randomly takes over controls and runs over Red. “Crazy drunk AI”
It goes back a hundred years to the days of slavery, like, just to hang.
That’s what I was thinking. If Elon throws a lot of money at advertising he might sell some.
“You won’t own anything, and you’ll like it.”
Just throw this shit up on Rocket League and end the line already. I think I already have those wheels.
Nah. I’m not going to waste $20 on a dlc car. Fuck epic.
Its 30 actually, and it comes with the lame wheels and a puke themed rocket booster.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Tesla has revived a contract clause that says the electric carmaker could sue Cybertruck buyers for $50,000 or more if they resell during their first year of ownership.
As we reported a month ago, the Cybertruck-only clause was added to the public version of Tesla’s Motor Vehicle Order Agreement Terms & Conditions and then deleted after the lawsuit threat attracted some attention.
The clause says Cybertruck buyers must offer the car back to Tesla at a reduced price before any attempt to resell the vehicle within one year of delivery.
"You agree that in the event you breach this provision, or Tesla has reasonable belief that you are about to breach this provision, Tesla may seek injunctive relief to prevent the transfer of title of the Vehicle or demand liquidated damages from you in the amount of $50,000 or the value received as consideration for the sale or transfer, whichever is greater.
People who made early Cybertruck reservations received their invitations to order the limited-availability Foundation Series edition on Friday.
As an Electrek article notes, it’s unclear whether the clause applies only to the Foundation Series version of the Cybertruck.
The original article contains 545 words, the summary contains 190 words. Saved 65%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
So, offer the car back to Tesla at 1 cent under purchase price, then sell to whoever you like if they refuse to buy it…
They arent ferrari, what are they thinking?
Supposed to stop scalping
You have to be a colossal idiot to buy this car. You have to be an even bigger idiot to buy it from a scalper
Sounds like the average Church of Elon Member to me (I’m pro EVs, but Elon/Tesla-Cultists are insufferable)
I’m all for idiots being scammed to buy this, and I’m all for scalpers being left with a bunch of these things that nobody wants. Every possible outcome is amazing.
Who is scalping the worst truck ever made? Even the people who put a down payment down don’t want one.
Unfortunately there are enough lunatics who would buy this either as a joke, or because they see Musk as some prophet
