There are legitimate reasons not to use Linux, but the user interface is not one of them, Linux can be way friendlier UI-wise than windows, see Desktops like cinnamon.
The only issue I have with my Index is that linux somehow prioritizes it over my main monitor when booting so i have to plug it in after booting and then all works fine.
WiVRn from quest app store, wivrn desktop app. I also needed xrizer nightly for secondary gun mode to work in half life alyx. Can’t guarantee much else though since I only really play beat saber.
I prefer a user-friendly interface, plus I regularly use VR with my Quest, which Linux does not like

if you want to be super cursed I’ve seen people replicate several of the windows UIs with desktop environment themes

I think VR might actually be a reason to still use windows unless something changed in the last two years

Index probably works fine but I don’t know about non valve headsets
