It was the pragmatic choice even though I personally use Windows. Windows security updates only last a few years. Would be annoying to keep reinstalling and re explaining the changed UI every few years.

I put Linux on my mom’s laptop which is nearing two decades old at this point. It was the pragmatic choice even though I personally use Windows.
