Is the word Halloween not acceptable anymore?

Halloween is just one day/night. Spooky Season runs from early September to the beginning of November or whenever people get around to taking down their Halloween decorations. Also, it’s cute and fun.

It’s been building for maybe a decade? It’s marketing that’s been successful. Stores would set up earlier and earlier, and the people that really love Halloween would buy earlier and earlier, decorating earlier.

Then, at some point the term spooky season started being used outside of ads. I’m not sure what company started it, but places like party city were using it a while back for sure.

But based on store product, I was damn sure its apparently already been Christmas for a month.

the war on christmas started with a preemptive strike by christmas invading thanksgiving, but thanksgiving had no allies. hardly even any songs. thanksgiving fell quickly. Now christmas has invaded halloween and even started attacking labor day. Halloween struck the September Alliance with Labor Day and has begun to fight back, but I keep seeing santas and elves dressed up trick or treating. THIS WILL NOT STAND. we shall defend our holiday, whatever the cost may be, we shall trick or treat on the porches, we shall trick or treat on the candy stands, we shall trick or treat in the corners and in the streets, we shall trick or treat in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this festival or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our holiday beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the halloween parade, would carry on the struggle, until, in gods’ good time, the new treats, with all their power and might, step forth to the rescue and the liberation of the charlseton chew.

Christmas (one day) vs. holidays (Thanksgiving thru Jan 6)

    Halloween vs. spooktober.

You can’t watch all the scary movies in one day!

depends on where you are. Most western countries celebrate christmas on one day, december 25th. There are a number of holidays around christmas (like January 6), but they are not usually considered _part of _ christmas.

Yeah. Spooky season is a relatively new term. It used to be Haloween and later Cristmas. Peopele would spend a lot on those holidays, but not enough, according to big store chains, so now you have “Spooky season” from Sep to Dec and then straight to two months of Christmas. Effectively boosting sales from Sep to Jan, which is almost half a year. Brb need to go get more decor and presents.

Nah, it’s an attempt to expand past the single day and make it a ‘season’ like the Christmas juggernaut

I’m out of the US this year, but definitely last year all the decorations said happy Halloween still, and store employees all said happy halloween.

is that not happening this year?

yea, I think it’s just early, so we’re getting a lot more spooky memes than Halloween specific memes.

I guess spoopy isn’t a big thing anymore though. I feel like spoopy stuff started in September in recent years online.

not a great loss, to be clear.

I’m pretty sure Halloween is still fine.

        I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t be.

        Happy Halloween!

maybe it’s too early for everyone to be saying Happy Halloween right now?
