Does anyone know if it exists and is active?

Looking to join alternative quality trackers and I’m trying to avoid Reddit.

Not asking for invites, just help being there once it opens up.

Preferably with some sort of freeleech rules to get going as I hate the initial hustle, downloading random stuff to build a buffer. My NAS is running 24/7 so seeding is not an issue anyways.

Would also like to hear your experiences and recomendations on trackers. Currently active on TL and very happy with them.

Cheers!

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

I’ll subscribe and hope for some good ones to open up.

Any trackers you’d recommend in particular?

Not overly active but you could sub/participate in

    !opensignups@lemmy.ml

    !opensignups@noworriesto.day

Also !torrent_trackers@lemmy.ml (it’s more of a tracker listing community)

And right here in dbzer0 there’s !trackers@lemmy.dbzer0.com for general discussion as well.

EDIT: For specific sites / non-Lemmy you can monitor https://opentrackers.org, I kind of wonder if the admin ever made it over to Lemmy. On Reddit he goes by cuddlebunny and an earlier nick IIRC (but that’s all ancient info now probably).

TL is pretty good. IPT although has a bad reputation but has served me well over past 8 years. Besides that i would recommend MAM if you’re into ebooks/audiobooks. They have invites open on Wed, Thur, Sat, Sun. and rutracker for music.

I always recommend MaM as a first tracker. There are a lot of audiobooks and also random things like the audio tracks from the Headspace meditation app. One just has to look around the site. The community is so supportive and the staff have the patience to teach new members about port forwarding, VPNs, seeding requirements and it has great freeleech content.

and i’m not aware of any opensignups kind of communities on lemmy, there are not as many people here. Hopefully it changes in future.

      Cheers mate!

Have heard about them and must admit I’m a bit skeptical, but I’ll do another round of reading up on them.

MAM looks good as the missus reads a lot on her tablet. Is it mostly English or other languages too?
Might have to set up Readarr as well now…
