If he wants to weasel out of the mess of his own doing he better remember his promise of electoral reform and pass proportional representation with the other parties.
It’s completely stupid and only plays to the most powerful and wealthy elite in this country … no matter if they are Liberal or Conservative
The Liberals will keep promising things like proportional representation but never deliver on it … they’ll keep pandering to leftist ideals just enough to sway voters but never enough to follow through. They’ll keep playing the game of hoping that everyone will not go with Conservatives while balancing themselves to leaning right enough that no one will notice.
I’m Indigenous Canadian and I grudgingly support the Liberals because they have done a lot for Indigenous Canada. They could do more but they always seem to hold back on everything … giving us just enough to keep us from completely revolting against them. We also know that the alternative of the Conservatives would mean we Indigenous people would lose just about everything we’ve gained in the past decade (which sounds like a lot but it isn’t … to non-Native Canada, any gain we achieve always feel like too much).
In all, like every other first world country … we don’t exist in a democracy … we exist in a plutocracy or oligarchy where only the wealthy and most powerful people get to direct our national politics. People don’t have a say … those with money do.
I agree with your comment as first nations communities should be getting $300 billions of investment from the federal government as the peoples have been through a lot.
Though I believe Justin Trudeau hasn’t promised proportional representation as it was was his father Pierre Trudeau who talked about it a lot. Justin Trudeau focused on the promise of electoral reform as he was trying to push for the alternative ranked choice vote system however he and the other 106 corrupt elites in his party voted against creating a citizen’s assembly as the committee could’ve recommended a system under Proportional Representation that could’ve be MMP or STV.
It’s the “always will” where I disagree. This society we’ve built isn’t anything close to sustainable no matter how much lip service is given to the idea that it should be. What can’t go on forever, won’t.
At this point, PR would significantly help the Greens and NDP, and harm the BQ and Liberals badly. The LPC has no interest in doing this. They’re not altruistic. Remember, they forced an election in the heat of the pandemic in order to consolidate power.
They have also proven to be totally uncommitted to top line promises. I don’t really see how they’re a party worth voting for.
However all the MPS from the BQ have voted in favour of electoral reform on motion m-86 and have stated that they support Proportional Representation. It’s the 107 and 111 corrupt liberals and conservatives who voted against a citizens assembly on electoral reform.

The other parties can table this too can’t they?
