Considering they can’t use a simple, exact, efficient, universal, objectively better and easy to use model like the Metric system, I wonder what would the Americans use instead of regular math if given the chance.
Yeehaws per McNugget
Considering the majority of Americans are against teaching Arabic numerals, I guess they should do their calculations using Roman numerals or something.
Arabic Numerals usually refers to Western Arabic Numerals (in opposition to the Eastern Arabic Numerals in the image you shared).
What are you trying to tell me? Arabic numerals are the ones in use almost everywhere around the world, so 1,2,3 and so on. The picture shows Eastern Arabic numerals, which while related are not the same thing.
While I wish metric was everywhere, this question, worded as it is, seems insulting. Why not ask Brits why they use both? Or invented imperial in the first place? Or read up on why metric isn’t used in the US?
I’m an advocate for 24hr clocks, metric and the like, but oh well.
Base 8? I think Tom Lehrer wrote a song about it.
Ak-shoo-ah-lee, there are some old industrial control systems that worked in octal (base 8).
It is the worst bastardization of mathematical knowledge ever committed by mankind, and I hate it with the burning passion of a thousand suns.

That looks about as infuriating as the imperial system …
