Just burning off excess linseed oil so we can recoat it in a lighter gun oil! twitch.tv/chamrsdeluxe#medieval #fire #metalworking #armor #chainmaille #renais...
So we used too much linseed oil, so we had to burn it off so we could recoat it with a lighter gunoil.
I do make chainmail, but not this hauberk. So this was a galvanized hauberk I got on medieval collectibles. It was too shiny for the “grimdark” look I was going for, so I stripped the galvanization off and have been trying different methods to darken it. After the galvanization was removed there was nothing protecting it from rusting. For rust prevention We tried linseed oil, but we put too much on, it caked up, smelled terrible and was just bad over all. So we were burning off what was leff so I could just use gun oil to protect it.
Do you make chainmail or is this work to restore/polish chainmail you own? Either way it’s super cool!
