I imagine that massage chairs still look like this under the hood, but smaller.
Without fairings or covers, old-timey machines were always the most aesthetically pleasing to look at through an engineering mindset. Seeing exactly how a machine’s motion is constrained and powered would be entertaining if not dangerous given all the ways a body part or piece clothing can get stuck in the workings.
This fascination with machines went back that far huh. What a bizarre world. After getting out of the machines thing, you realize how utterly messed up it is.
