Welcome to this week’s casual kōrero thread!
This post will be pinned in this community so you can always find it, and will stay for about a week until replaced by the next one.
It’s for talking about anything that might not justify a full post. For example:
- Something interesting that happened to you
- Something humourous that happened to you
- Something frustrating that happened to you
- A quick question
- A request for recommendations
- Pictures of your pet
- A picture of a cloud that kind of looks like an elephant
- Anything else, there are no rules (except the rule)
So how’s it going?
Last few days to fill in the Community Census!
I’ve also had a bit of a look at the next minor release of Lemmy, 0.19.4. Some chatter about it being more CPU intensive than the last one, but I haven’t heard of any other issues. I am always keen to hear if others see anything about issues!
I originally thought we would need a decent amount of downtime as the official instructions direct you to export the database and import it into an upgraded database version, but I’ve since found that postgres lets you do an in-place upgrade, and at least one Lemmy instance has already done this without issue, so we should be able to get away with only a minute or two of downtime.
I’m thinking I will update the database on it’s own first, then do the 0.19.4 update a bit later. Both should be pretty quick so if you notice any downtime over the weekend, it might be that (or it might not be…). I try to put any updates on the Matrix chat so if you haven’t joined, there are instructions here.
