I speak German and English. Standard advice says create an account on any instance, better not overloaded. This is what I did. The only languages I can select in my settings are “undetermined” and English. I subscribed to few german language communities from feddit.de As a result:

• posts from a german language community are not shown in my “subscribed” list, even when I explicitly subscribed to this community (they are shown only if I go to this community directly)
• I cannot select German as a post language even when I post to german speaking community hosted by feddit.de

I understand that that an instance limits languages for communities it hosts. But why this limitation must apply to languages a user can see in their “subscribed” posts list or to use for posting/commenting on other instances?

Or did I miss something?
