I’m nearing the end of the wheel of time, first book that Sanderson worked on.
The aiel seem to only feature women punishing each other through penance.

Did Jordan have a kink for this kinda thing? It’s just non stop spankings.
Generally speaking, almost every character in the Wheel of Time series views everybody else as a bunch of children. Considering how prevalent corporal punishment on children would have been in Robert Jordan’s life I’m not surprised.
My biggest frustration with it is that if the characters learned proper communication skills in book 1 most of the issues throughout the series could have just been avoided.
Everybody just wants everybody else to do what they say with no explanations and gets mad when they don’t.
@ursakhiin @JoYo "Red, White & Royal Blue" by Casey McQuiston is a romantic novel. Find out how two friends were forced to fake a friendship for political reasons, but their feelings deepened into a secret romance that challenges their lives and the world’s perception. https://bit.ly/445UfVI
