So far the most benefiting entities politically are: Russia and China (US attention might be divided and be forced to divert funds to Israel), Netanyahu (Isreelis were very divided in his support, this raises up nationalism and helps him to do more).
The Storm Shadow have very similar capabilities to ATACMs, I don’t think it will massively increase what Ukraine is already capable of doing.
I think the reason the US is dragging their feet to release them is that once Ukraine starts using them, Russia (and their allies, Iran, China etc.) will have enough data to start developing countermeasures against them.

Frankly though they should revise Title II classification for the Internet and remove exception from the requirement to share last mile to competitors. This is the main reason there’s almost no competition. It doesn’t make sense for every single ISP to run lines to every home. Those lines should be leaseable.

Here’s my view. Lemmy.nz is intended for an NZ audience. Hexbear has been defederated from 5 of the top 8 largest instances. This is problematic for us, as their All is much more likely to show lemmy.nz posts than All on other instances. It starts to feel like we’re being brigaded, even though we aren’t, because their instance is the 10th largest Lemmy instance and yet they don’t see most Lemmy posts (but they do see ours).
I could be wrong, but my understanding is that when instance like hexbear is defederated, they can still see your posts, they can even comment and vote on them. You just don’t see it anymore. They would have to defederate on their side too, to completely block it.

Federation is like instead of having single reddit you would have many different reddits under different domains, they have their own subreddits. You don’t need to create separate account on every reddit, you can theoretically access those subreddits from any of those reddit servers.
Now, defederation is breaking that. If there’s reddit-A and reddit-B, you have account on reddit-A and they both de-federated, you won’t be able to access subreddits from reddit-B.
I think one of lemmy servers that defederates the most is perhaps beehaw.org. Their goal is to create welcoming space accepting everyone. So they defederated from servers that they believe is ruining that experience, either because admins of those servers are not proactive, or outright support stances that beehaw.org does not tolerate.
Some of their rockets are air to ground, and need planes to launch them.
They move much slower than missiles, there videos where people were able to shut them down with regular weapons (you don’t see that with missiles) so why automated system using conventional weapons wouldn’t be effective?
Things like that are true with any new weapon. The C-Ram or the new laser weapon navy has should work well against.

The difference is different admins, different policy (for example one lemmy could let anyone in, another, like beehaw asks to write why they should let you in, and that you will obey their rules).
There are also things like some settings, for example beehaw disables downvotes, they also don’t federate with lemmy servers that notoriously break their policies.
So best bet would be to choose server which policy fits you the best.
Also some people might want to choose the biggest and most open server. That could be good but because the server is open to everyone it might struggle fighting abuse and also go down because of high load. Such server is lemmy.world right now.

Russia doesn’t need Ukraine on its own, they need Ukraine to get access Poland, Romania and Moldova.
They already switched into war time production, and if they manage to get Ukraine they only need a year or two to replenish all military equipment.
People really underestimate Russia and that’s the worst thing you can do to get caught pants down. If Russia senses there’s a chance to succeed they will move on.
Another thing the West seems to be ignoring is that they think the war is just what is happening in Ukraine, when the majority of their operation is disinformation, subversion, and destabilization.
The popularity of far right politicians (who for some reason are friendly toward Kremlin) or BRExit shows how effective it is.
