If I’ve understood correctly, wind gets directed inward towards the back, not outwards, which makes it more maneuverable and less likely to stall (you’ll have to read the article for the reasons), but also more twitchy and less predictable.

Here’s a 1924 prospectus with the same image (source) and many of the things that jumped out at me - especially the faces of the dogs - are the same.

- A local PhD petroleum engineering lecturer who was involved with the issue directly has a working theory.
- A Texas PhD chemical and petroleum engineering professor agrees it’s likely.
- It’s further supported by the fact that resurfacing work removed the issue.
Cherry-picking the words “I speculate” out of the entire article to suggest they’re unfamiliar with the phenomenon and just
pontificatingconjecturing is deliberately misleading and I suggest you take your own advice.
I like the suggestion that the witch hadn’t cast a spell before this point because they thought it was a social faux-pas. Confrontation anxiety strikes again.
