I don’t care what people say, the most important historical event in my lifetime was the discovery and release of the lost Steely Dan tape containing The Second Arrangement

Certain Lemmy apps show an indicator, such as the baby face emoji, next to newly created accounts. I assume this is a futureproofing measure against spam or bot accounts by bringing the newness of the account to other users’ attention so they know to be more wary of them. Based on my previous experience hunting bots on Reddit, I think this is an excellent futureproofing feature.
If you’re using the Voyager app, you can activate or deactivate this indicator on your end by going to the General settings in the app and switching the New Account Highlightenator. Other users will still see the baby face next to your username until you age out of it, but I don’t know how long that will take.
Welcome to Lemmy!
It means that humans developed empathy and the scientific means to help each other avoid natural selection. Intraspecies and interspecies empathy is the cheat code against natural selection. Certain ram species, for example, also were not designed intelligently, so as they age they may grow their horns until they penetrate their skull and kill them. Natural selection is most effective when it culls prior to the life form procreating. However, thanks to the power of empathy, we can abate natural selection by performing oral surgery on humans (ideally in our adolescence for wisdom teeth removal) and by shaving rams’ horns as they age. Ideally, as science develops and empathy spreads, we can come up with more effective and painless means to ensure everybody has a chance to live and be happy.
Huh, I’ve got all advertisers hidden forever on Lemmy
Can you or somebody else with a Reddit account post a photo of Woody Guthrie to r/pics and/or some major history subreddit and title it “Woody Guthrie and his iconic guitar” but use the Reddit alien logo as a censor over the “This machine kills fascists” written on his guitar?
Apparently, Reddit has started mega-censoring anything even slightly inciting of violence, ranging from comments saying “F Trump” or just the word “Luigi”, as well as banning users just for upvoting this content.
Woody Guthrie famously had written on his guitar “This machine kills fascists”.
Interesting. Looking into this.
Can you make the sub private and for a couple months maintain it as “active” with low-effort posts vaguely on topic by a select few users?
Dammit, Jim! I’m a doctor, not a rapist fraudster bigoted fascist!

The three circles can overlap. Peter Gabriel, for example. Probably David Byrne, Brian Eno, Nina Simone too, off the top of my head.
Kenneth Lamar Noid proved that violence is an effective means of stopping advertisements
I wouldn’t say “coincidentally”. Sometimes characters are intentionally given the same birthday as their portrayer. Elizabeth Henstridge’s character Jemma Simmons on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD comes to mind as another example.
