Yea… buying a $35 “early access” title, to have a large amount of the content locked behind a pay wall… that kills any interest in the game for me.
““Assuming you play only regular matches and not solo (2 points per extract), and each round takes you 10 minutes to extract, and you NEVER DIE, it would take you ~30 hours to get 5 shards,” sp00kyemperor calculated in a separate thread. “So if you’re a god tier player that extracts every single time, it will still take you 30 hours to unlock one class.””
Absolute garbage. Especially after something like BG3 just released. BG3 and Elden Ring stand alone atop a mountain of in-game purchases.
The following is from their website:
About Us
We are a merry band of veteran game developers disillusioned by the exploitative and greedy practices we once helped create. We are experts who have worked on many of the biggest hits in Korea.
>
We’ve seen first hand how corporate game companies sell their soul for the easy payday. We are disappointed to see them doubling down on more and more exploitative practices, becoming more like casinos instead of bringing joy to gamers.
>
We’re fighting to win back the hearts of gamers around the world. We believe that by creating games with soul, and by respecting our users we can usher in a renaissance of awesome video games direct from Korea.
And then they do this… How hypocritical…
Well that’s disgusting. It reminds me of a vid I saw a while back about the evolution of BS marketing tactics in games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g16heGLKlTA
I’m lucky I get to (mostly) avoid this kind of thing as someone with a preference for the types of games smaller indie producers are more likely to make, but I still care what’s happening in the rest of the industry.
I don’t trust this game.
Fuck this game.
