The guitar riff played in your head just now. Do not deny it. Let it play.

“ Summer of ‘69’ is actually about “making love” and not about the year 1969 as many people believed.” Saved you a click.

Is playing the guitar a metaphor for sex, too? When he talks about his band, is that like a group masturbation thing? The fucking song isn’t about sex. I used to go through the hymnal in church and mentally rewrite all of the titles to end with “under the sheets” when I was a kid, that didn’t make them about sex. Putting '69 in the title of your song does not make you Prince. Go back to the old folks home, Bryan, no one wants to hear about you remembering the summer of over the shirt stuff.

It’s a song about starting a band, finding a girl, and being wistful about the 60s. Boomer bait.

The lyrics are pretty straightforward. Not sure what I’m being sold here, as if every sentence of the song isn’t perfectly clear.
