Starting at approximately 2:20 pm ET on Wednesday, the federal government will begin conducting a nationwide test of its Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts. The EAS portion of the test will send an emergency alert to all radios and televisions, while the WEA portion of the drill will send an alert to all consumer cell phones.
The test is being conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in coordination with the Federal Communication Commission. Its purpose is to ensure that the systems in place continue to be an effective means of warning the public about emergencies at a national level.
I love that it’s going to be during a class of 250 students for me. And it’s a huge reactionary boogeyman that Qanon Anonymous just covered. I can’t wait to see who is going to go monkey over it.
I turned off all these stupid alerts. At least it says they’re turned off. Will see what happens today. Wouldn’t surprise me that they can override the settings.
Fully disabled that BS on my phones.
By default you can only disable basic alerts. Stuff coming from federal level should still come through.
Disabling the emergency alerts app can be done though (via ADB for normal phones). Rooted phones can disable or remove the app.
Gonna have to fire up ADB then. My phone is MY phone.
