They did
It’s good, and best live service is a low bar, but shit they need to hammer out bugs like a Japanese mochi duo.
I’ve played about 20 hours and experienced at least half a dozen crashes or bugs that caused me to restart the game.
If they want the crown, there’s a few things that need fixing.
Yeah the crashes and bugs have been the one thing that I noticed was wrong with the game, it gets mildly annoying crashing randomly because you did something random like change settings while in a match or just crashing after you finish a mission for no apparent reason… other bugs too have been annoying but game-breaking bugs usually aren’t as frequent as crashes I think. The worst I’ve experienced was objectives that were already completed being marked on the map like they weren’t completed.
Are you guys on windows?
On linux the game crashes a lot, too, but it stops happening completely if you use dx11 instead of 12.
Haven’t experienced any crashes myself on Linux in the ~12h I played
I am, but none of my “crashes” have been graphics related. They’ve all been bugs that made the game unplayable until I restarted, for example:
-
The first match I ever tried to play, I got to the “select your abilities” screen and could not click/input anything. The game was clearly reacting to my mouse pointer, I could see other players choosing loadouts, but nothing worked. Took me a solid minute to figure out it was the game and not me before I just alt+F4’d out.
-
Joining a friend’s match in progress, I chose my abilities, loaded in the drop pod, and it launched. After watching the drop animation for about 30 seconds, I spawned back in my ship. Tried to join again, same result. Repeat, until I quit and restarted.
-
Entering certain menus while the mission is loading has left me unable to enter into the drop pods.
There’s plenty more like that, typically associated with the matchmaking process
Then there’s the litany of minor bugs, like having to tap the reload key multiple times to trigger a reload, etc. The game is clearly not originally designed for M&K.
I haven’t run into any matchmaking issues, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the peer-to-peer netcode of the game is a bit fragile, hopefully it will improve.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a gun fail to reload except based on in-game conditions such as being mid-dive, ragdolled, mid-weapon-swap etc. And plenty of times I’ve cancelled a reload by sprinting, swapping, diving or firing before it has finished without realizing.
I’m not sure how any part of the UI is controller specific. Kind of the opposite, I feel bad for console players having to deal with an inferior input device.

I don’t know about windows, but on linux the game no longer crashes if you set it to run with dx11 instead of 12 using the
--use-d3d11
launch option.Obviously it shouldn’t be crashing either way, but maybe a workaround on windows too?
Mentioned in another comment, but my bugs are mostly issues with matchmaking that prevent me from joining a game until I restart
It crashes A LOT
It’s absurd that my Steam Deck experience is more stable than the PC one… Have you thought about running proton? /j (sort of)
Aside from ragdolling into terrain (2x), I’ve not had any issues at all. Not a one in all 60+ hrs of diligent Democracy™ proliferation. 🤘🏽
Does anyone know why when I go to auto play I only ever get paired with another person, usually at the end of the game?
I have a lot of success starting a mission and hanging out in my ship for a min. People usually pop in. If that fails, I SOS as soon as I drop into a planet.
You mean just start and don’t deploy until someone randomly pops up?
Yeah, I select a mission and instead of immediately getting in my hellpod, I’ll check the my load out, or my requisitions. Usually someone will end up joining within a minute. Lots of times I’ve gotten full 4 player teams that way

Huh. I didn’t.

Yeah you did. There’s a skip button at the bottom.
Thafuq?
Ha! I also turned off cross play as the function was nothing but causing me issues. Never looked back.
